PRESS RELEASE
Cooperation with ICE breeds
mistrust, fear
"Our Ventura County Sheriff’s Office should be working to build stronger, safer communities. When people earn release from prison or jail, they are vulnerable. Their best chance of rebuilding their lives is with support from family and community.
This is why I urge the sheriff’s department to stop voluntarily turning released immigrants over to the federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement for the extra punishment of deportation."
Time to end assistance to ICE
"Today in Ventura County one very concrete way we can show respect for all our families would be for the Sheriff’s Department to stop its voluntary assistance to ICE. Eight California counties have already said no to ICE."
